We, the members of the PHILIPPINE AQUILARIA RAINFORESTATION AGROECOLOGY AGRICULTURE COOPERATIVE (PARA Coop), Inc. are committed to restore and conserve our Philippine forest biodiversity according to the proven science-based Rainforestation technology, pioneered & developed by VSU.
By leveraging the highly valued & endangered premium, Agarwood producing Native Philippine Aquilaria trees with associated dipterocarps, we seek to incentivize and support community-based forest restoration action to generate abundant livelihoods, and bring back critical ecosystem services for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
OUR PURPOSE
- RESTORE our Philippines forest biodiversity & ecosystem functionality using the Rainforestation technology pioneered & developed by VSU; so that through the restored forest biodiversity, Nature may continue to provide the ecological services on which our lives and communities depend on: water, clean air, habitat for biodiversity, protection from extreme weather events, erosion control, food, etc.
- HARNESS the maximum potential of the endangered Aquilaria species, particularly the Leyte Aquilaria species, which manifests the highest potential; as an effective incentive to protect & promote our remaining forests and native ecosystems, in collaboration with VSU, relevant government agencies, landowners, and other local and international partners.
- BUILD & ENABLE a cohesive network of viable individuals, groups, institutions & partner communities that can hasten the Restoration and Conservation of our native forest biodiversity & ecosystem functionality, thru a reliable system of accreditation & certification compliant with government standards: training & trainers, learning and ecotourism sites, authentic premium quality fruits, seeds, seedlings & non-timber forest products, standardized protocols, interlinked enterprises, carbon credits protocols, capability to engage in supply & contracting of quality planting materials & non-timber forest products.
